So you just got engaged, and trying to research all there is to know to plan the wedding day that you have always dreamed of. Let me share some planning tips as you embark on this whole adventure of planning for your big day.

From a recent wedding that I did, I have found that having a wedding coordinator the day of the wedding tremendously helped a lot. And here’s why – If you think that you’ve planned everything to the minute and you got it good. Then you might be in for a surprise. The typical wedding day is usually a long day. So there are a lot of things that have to come together so that it goes smooth. Which can even go wrong from the beginning of the day, say if any of the morning appointments are late (hair, make-up etc.) everything will be pushed back. The problem is, you will be busy with your own preparation that checking and overseeing every vendor to be in sync according to your timeline will be quite a task and will eventually cause a lot stress, if any of those vendors are late.

So how can you go around it? Have your mom coordinate the wedding for you? I have found from experience that Mothers-of-the-bride that often coordinate feel that they did not enjoy the day because all they have been worried about is every little thing on the timeline or schedule. Which can be a sad thing that the whole experience of the wedding day has been taken away from them, which will never happen again (unless of course, the daughter gets married again.)

The solution: hire a day-of wedding coordinator. The last wedding I have been in, having a wedding day coordinator made life so much easier for the bride and groom, their family, friends and the vendors. The coordinator already was in constant communication with all of the vendors and keeping them in the loop with regards to the timeline way out long before the rehearsal dinner. Plus the way the coordinator arranged the timeline, the was a good amount of padding to make sure there is enough time for everything. Which worked great that nothing was rushed. And come the wedding day, the bride, groom, and their family just was enjoying the day, stress free and were just soaking in the whole experience. Because for a fact, if the bride is stressed or mom of the bride, it will show through the photos, which is not a good thing to remember the day as you are looking through your wedding album.

Having a coordinator is really a great thing to consider and will greatly make your wedding day experience better as you are more focused on what’s happening around you, the gathering of friends and family that came out to celebrate with you on your big day. These are opinions based on my experience on the field as a Philadelphia wedding photographer. This is only tip # 1 so stay tuned for the next ones to help you prepare planning for your wedding soon or next year!
