What happens when your professional camera breaks down during a photo shoot? As a wedding industry professional, unfortunate things happen all the time and as our clients hire us to create exceptional art and document these moments, it is really, really, really, really, really… (have I said that enough times?) REALLY are prepared for anything that could hinder that goal. 🙂

Wih that being said, let’s give you an idea of how our shoot happened. We met up with our gorgeous couple Princy and Melvin outside of the Wells Fargo Stadium. It was an overcast day which made the feel of our images have a more less contrasty and neutral vibe to it. We had fun taking images by the Sixers stadium parking area where we had the place to ourselves but the grounds security.

There were some great vantage points that we saw and got some very cool photos of. Aren’t they cute with the matching shoes?

The next part of our shoot continued on across the street at FDR Skatepark. We have done session here in the past but this time, we went to the other side of it and utilized the funky and grungy skate area that gave a bit of an urban vibe to it. Our couple turned it up a notch with their outfits rocking a sundress for her and a sport jacket for him.

Just when we thought everything was going perfect, then it happened. My camera decided to stop working as it gave me a error and would not turn on. Also, the sky suddenly got gloomy and rain drops started to fall.

Luckily, there was a giant overhang which was the I-95 highway right above us that would served as cover for the rain. I had to make a quick decision to get my back up camera than continue troubleshooting it and hope it miraculously would fix itself. But it honestly, in my several years of doing this, that’s not how you handle this situations.

You have to recognize what’s happening and execute contingency plans you have in place. Although I didn’t bring my back up camera with me, I knew I have to go back to the studio and get it. And thankfully enough, it was not that far from where we were. My assistant kept our clients company and I got back just in time for the rain to stop, and have a working camera again!

Crisis averted! Phew! That’s why it is a must for any wedding professional photographer to have back up equipment, batteries, memory, etc. because you will never know when it will strike you. It will almost most of the time when you least expect it.

For the last part of our shoot, we concluded it downtown where Dilworth park and the new Love Park was located. Our pride gracefully rocked a traditional Sari and our groom definitely took it to the next level with his grey suit.
